Farewell To These Arms Are Snakes

TAAS 2002 - 2009

From The Band:
"It's with a heavy heart we tell you that These Arms Are Snakes is no more. It's been a great run and we'd like to send out a very hearty "Thank You" to everyone that we've worked with or anyone that we've toured with; anyone that lent us a floor, towed our van and/or trailer, lent a van, given us a listen, downloaded our records prior to their coming out, bought our shit, or asked us where our band name came from; everyone who cooked us food, made habanero-infused tequila, had a safety meeting with us, let Steve gyrate all over you, had to live with any of us, made us pay shitloads of money to get off your punk label, got us into LOST, found Steve drunkenly wandering the streets of Tokyo alone, played Madlibs in the van (plural nouns), lost money promoting one of our shows, took Chris to the hospital, put up with our drunken sorry asses, got into a fight with us, etc. etc."

This band could not have been possible without all of you. We sincerely thank you.

Much love,

TAAS

I'm going to miss these fuckers, they were the second band on Sargent House -O.G.

Wow I don't even know what to say. May have seen it coming but didn't want it to happen. I cannot thank this band enough for inspiring me to the fullest for the past 6 years. I had no idea who the fuck this band was in 2003 when I went to a local festival called Friction Fest in Greensboro, NC and they completely kicked me in the face. A band that was hardly known to anyone other than from former bands and they played harder and louder than any of the 25 bands over those few days. Steve was running into walls and completely punishing himself all for the music. Never seen anything like it to this day. Shortly after their set I purchased This Is Meant to Hurt You EP and haven't looked back. Thankfully I had the great fortune of seeing them 6x after that including their most recent visit to Chapel Hill to play to a crowd of 25 people. Cursive was playing down the street needless to say they still put on one of the best shows I've ever seen despite a shitty sound guy and hardly any crowd. Brian, Steve, Ryan, and Chris (and drummers past) cheers to you guys for kicking so much ass. You will be missed. I will be looking forward to future endeavors Steve and Chris so keep us posted.

Shocked to read this, but they finished on a high for sure "tail swallower" is their definining moment and perhaps even they knew they couldnt top it. Even the multiple B-Sides from that record ruled. God luck to all in the future.
